Sharlene Boey

Sharlene is currently the Field Manager for the Malaysian team on the Blue Communities Project. She holds an MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London during which she explored the equitability of a spatial management plan for a multi-use MPA in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Prior to this she fulfilled the role of Special Assistant to the Director with the United Nations Office for REDD+ Coordination in Indonesia (UNORCID) where she worked with many stakeholder groups in support of the national REDD+ agenda. Sharlene also holds an Honours degree in Climate Studies from the University of Western Australia where she had research experience in environmental microbiology. Her current research interests lie in coastal communities, integrating conservation with development. In her free time, she enjoys photography and music.
