Andy is an interdisciplinary mixed-methods researcher involved in several projects examining relationships between coastal communities and their environments, in SE Asia and SW UK. These relationships are explored through a range of approaches, including public perception research i.e. of tidal energy developments, stakeholder engagement (mangrove management), and evaluation and review (benefits of nature-connectedness on health and wellbeing). Prior to joining PML, Andy spent 10 years at University of Plymouth researching various aspects of education research, including research-informed teaching, problem-based learning and outdoor learning. For Blue Communities Andy is involved in projects 3 and 8, looking at spatial and functional links between habitats, ecosystem services and pressures in the case study sites. Andy has a BSc Geology/Astronomy, an MSc Biological Diversity, and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
